The Long:
At the end of Dr. Gina Oliver’s Ph.D. program she had a dream of building a futuristic farming facility. From that dream, From The Land was born. Our zero-net energy climate controlled cob farming facility blends low tech creative design with high tech sensors and smart systems to run as an autonomous, grid-free farming facility.
To prove the concept, we chose mealworms as a foundational protein source. They also are great for stress testing the facility because, as living organisms, they need to stay within a very specific range of temperature and humidity.
We started with one wild idea: build the most efficient indoor farm ever.
So we did – and out popped thousands of the happiest mealworms you’ll ever meet.
Our Happy Mealies are raised inside our Littlest Big Farm™, a cozy earthen micro-farm that naturally keeps the temperature just right. No fancy warehouse, no giant electric bill – just smart design, cob walls, and a whole lot of love. The result? Healthy, wiggly, nutritious mealworms grown in a climate that’s good for them and the planet.
What began as Dr. Gina Oliver’s dream of futuristic farming became From The Land, where we blend ancient building techniques with modern sensors to grow more with less. Iff we can keep mealworms thriving, we can grow just about anything.
